It’s finally here—The Summer Before’s official launch day! I’m thrilled, but let’s be real: I’m also completely exhausted. Between all the marketing, social media, and endless blogging, my hands are practically claws at this point. I could use a robot (or three paid assistants). Selling a book feels a bit like being a used car salesman—“Buy my book! Don’t miss out!” This week, though, it really is just $0.99 for the eBook, so grab a copy while you can! I know I might sound like a broken record, but bear with me. Breathe.

Launching a book amidst perimenopause, selling my mom’s house, and trying to keep it together? Let’s just say it’s not for the faint-hearted! Reviews are rolling in from my amazing launch team and early readers on NetGalley and Book Sirens. Most of them are incredible, but of course, a few outliers pop up. When my stress level is low and my hormones are under control, I can shrug off those harsher reviews—it’s part of the gig. But sometimes, at the wrong moment, a bad review hits hard. Cue the fight-or-cry reaction. I’ll admit, I might even dig into their review history to see if they’re just a serial critic! It helps…sometimes. And honestly, I understand my book isn’t for everyone—that’s just how it goes.
After spending so much time cocooned in the writing process, it’s daunting to emerge into the world and face critiques while also promoting and peopling with strangers. But I’m doing it, and not just surviving—I’m determined to thrive! (Repeat three times for effect.) Thank you all for supporting me through this journey! I truly have the best team and readers. Hearing how much people love the book is amazing and worth every moment of this rollercoaster.

I’m also proud to be giving back. Part of the proceeds from The Summer Before goes to Martha’s Vineyard Community Services and their CONNECT program, which supports victims of domestic and sexual violence. Plus, I’m branching out to donate to the Joyful Heart Foundation, founded by Mariska Hargitay, which advocates for similar causes nationwide. And mark your calendars for November 22—I’ll be at Heidi’s House of Coffee, where proceeds will benefit Karen Read’s defense fund. If you don’t know about this case, you should. Here is a video. I’m excited about other Massachusetts-based fundraisers coming up, too.

Check out the list of my events above—I’d love to see you there! Your support means the world, and remember, when you buy my book, you’re also helping those in need. It’s #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth. Let’s make a difference! So snag a copy for just $0.99 and make this stressed-out, hormonal writer a best-seller! Thank you, thank you, thank you—you truly are the best.
Negative reviews are just part of life. You can’t please everyone. Peri-menopause…get a good fan. Selling a house…it is what it is. This too shall pass. Keep on writing!
I have started the book this morning, it has grabbed me! I look forward to going to bed early and reading more!! Thank you
Your book was great! Don’t worry about those few!
